Artistry Renewing Peel - Chemical Peel Alternative w/o the Visible Peeling

I have tried glycolic peel procedures from mall-based dermatologists and it was alright, albeit the little pain and some cost. This is what the Amway Artistry intensive skincare renewing peel is trying to address, minus the visible peeling.

Simply said, Artistry's renewing peel is like having your own peeling session at home.

In a recent launch at the Shangri-La Makati hotel where Cosmo Manila was invited, Amway Philippines introduced this peeling beauty breakthrough where Artistry's Research Associate Scientist Mr. John Scimeca explained the science behind the skincare product.

He started with familiarizing us with the basic functional layers of the human skin (epidermis) and its renewal system.

Epidermal Cell Renewal
He also  reveled that a 30-year old would only take 17-20 days for an epidermal renewal while a 70-year old takes almost twice that time period.

He then proceeded with how the product works.

He compared it to professional peeling procedures but done by yourself at the comfort of your home. He also focused on its unique patented Mucor Miehei mushroom enzyme which imitates the body’s own skin exfoliation mechanism.

In layman's terms, the message he want to send across is that the peel is actually naturally triggered by the enzyme inherent with Artistry's renewing peel. Enzymes are natural proteins which increases the rate of chemical reaction in cells.
Here are some detailed inofrmation on how to use the product:
  1. Cleanser: Cleanse face with non-soap cleanser. Rinse and dry thoroughly
  2. PEEL:
    • Smooth a moist layer of 8 full pumps of Renewing Peel over the face, avoiding the eye area. You may notice a slight redness or tingling sensation, this is a normal reaction and a indication that the product is working.
    • Leave on the skin for 6-8 minutes then wet fingers and lightly massage skin, rinse thoroughly with warm water and pat dry the skin.
  3. If you have other facial routines, you may do so like toner, lotion/cream and sunscreen.

I asked if it can be used with other peeling regimens (just to be sure), and as expected, his answer was no, it is strongly discouraged.

With regards to the leave on time, I suggest you maximize the 8 minutes to be sure. Mr. John Scimeca however added that studies didn't reveal any significant improvements even if it was left on the face in excess of 8 minutes.

How often to use the peel?
  • Maximum twice a week (non-consecutive days) in the 6 week treatment period
  • Either morning or night - not both
  • Repeat 6 week treatment 4 times a year

Results to Expect:
  • The 6 week treatment period will deliver benefits comparable to a professional chemical peel
  • Removes the outer layer of dead skin cells so that your skincare products and treatments work more effectively
  • Instantly see and feel smoother, softer skin
  • Reduces visible fine lines and restores the skin’s radiance
  • Evens skin tone, adds clarity and increases moisture levels in your skin
  • Suitable for all skin types

Test/Trial

And of course, I tried it at the launch on the top of my hands. One squirt from the pump bottle was enough to cover the small area. It was cold and minty but I didn't feel any tingling sensation as I initially expected. Neither was there redness. I somehow expected this since body skin is naturally thicker than that of the face.

So after 8 minutes, I wiped it off with a cloth and inspected my skin. And yes, it was smoother and softer compared to the surrounding areas I did not apply the Artistry Renewing Peel. I guess the Mucor Miehei mushroom enzyme did some invisible peeling eh? :)

I was hoping to start using it myself sometime next month; I'm still too toxic these days. I wanted to be fair with the product and use it when my stress levels are at minimum and I don't have breakouts. :)

The Amway Artistry Intensive Skincare Renewing Peel is priced at P4,900 and comes in a 20 ml pump bottle. Too pricey for a single product, but if you compare it with the actual chemical peel rates (x number of sessions), this beauty product may be worth a try.  With the recommended 8 squirts per use (enough for the whole face) twice a week, the bottle should last you six weeks which is the recommended length of use.

On the down side, the Artistry Intensive Skincare Renewing Peel is not available in your department stores but only through Amway dealers and distributors. You may call Amway at (+632)8148181 or visit amway.com.ph.
